I still own a CPS2 for Progear, Aerofighters 2 and a Raiden PCB (which needs to be repaired). Really wish I hadn’t sold my Batrider and Bakraid PCBs (Batrider was about the same average price at the time, $185 I think?). Oh well. Live and learn. At least we now have more accessible ways to play these games. If I ever have time I might start looking into MISTER cores as well.
Played Mushihimesama 1.5 on Steam tonight. Managed a very lousy clear in Original Mode (normal power).
The Hamster ACA version of Darius will be releasing on Switch on October 6 (previously was only available on PS4 ACA). Also, Taito announced that ‘….and October 7th, the next day, “Darius’s unveiling day”, there may be an announcement of new information on “Darius”…?’
Hmmmm.
Thanks to ohfivepro on Twitter for picking up on this:
That’s neat, I totally forgot it never came out on the Switch. I’ll snag it!
Also, is that ACA NeoGeo logo there for a reason? I jumped on the Switchwagon kinda late - and I missed all the delisted games, such as the newer Super Sidekicks, unfortunately - but I thought Hamster was done with it and published all the titles that they could.
Strikers 1945 III is on sale for a couple bucks off on the US eShop. Anyone played this port? Good?
I had no idea that some of the ACA Neo Geo titles were delisted, which ones are no longer available? Removed from both Switch and PS4?
Also NeoGeo Cup '98 and The Ultimate 11 are currently unavailable for purchase (on the Switch, PS4 and Xbox). They were all delisted due to references to Taiwan and the Republic of China in their roster.
Playing Tatsujin Oh/Truxton II on the Astro City Mini V tonight, great game but is it ever intensely difficult:
I grabbed Cotton Reboot and Cotton Fantasty. In the past had played through Cotton 2 on Saturn a bunch years ago, but sold my copy.
Weirdly I loved Reboot and didn’t like Fantasy. Reboot is just perfectly paced with interesting waves and scenarios and awesome chaotic shooting, plus environmental interaction, and has some fantastic music. After giving it a good run I was keen for Fantasy, but I found generic and bland and mostly just streams of enemies in the sky with less connected to their environment.
I’m guessing it’s because Reboot had a solid core to work from of the original game.
Switch is becoming pretty insane with all the shooters though, I have about 10 now, I’ve made a special game case up of just shooters to pick up and play.
Have they really fixed the input lag? Noticeable?
I believe that was mostly regarding the Cotton/Guardian Force release which was emulating the Saturn. 11 frames of delay. A patch got it down to 7.
Reboot has fantastic input delay, 3 frames from what I have just read, Fantasy seems good too.
Radiant Silvergun launches later today on Switch, port by Livewire, was just announced in the Nintendo Direct.
Livewire are amazing. I’m hoping they do a Mushihimesama Futari port one day
Definitely grabbing RS for Switch.
Radiant Silvergun is really hard. How the heck do you get good at this one?
Arcade mode is so difficult, you have to learn to chain everything otherwise your weapons won’t power up and you will be stuck with a pea shooter. People moan about how strict Ikaruga is but it’s far more lenient than silvergun imho.
Story mode is the way to go, saving your weapon power ups for the next playthrough so you slowly but surely get a little further with each time.
I remember playing it early in my shmup journey and it was hard as hell. I just put it down to being inexperienced (also down to playing it in 2 player which made things more chaotic), but I really think it is just that hard
In can see that. It feels like you have to perfectly memorize this one. It’s not really my type of Shmup even though I love most Treasure games. I was hoping this would be something closer to Sin and Punishment in 2D form.
Thanks for this. I haven’t made time to properly play it yet but I was a bit overwhelmed with the options, and after hearing that it’s even more exacting than Ikaruga this puts my mind at ease.
Does anyone know what option settings bring the game as close to the Saturn version as possible? I noticed three(!) mesh transparency types. Turned off the HD sprites which I presume were from the 360 version.
