Upcoming retro re-releases - Delphine Software Collection 1, Duke Nukem Collection 1 & 2, Sunsoft Collection 1 (Evercade)

That was a nice listen. Thanks for sharing!

Really interesting that they’ve added two different English translations. One that’s faithful to the original Japanese game and one that’s more in the style of the modern River City Girls.

I’m looking (way)forward to this game!

fuck yeah powerslave, love seeing more pricey saturn games get rereleases - shame about cotton but at least battle garegga went well, which hyper duel/batsugun etc got the same

and legit happy to see pcoky & rocky return - i keep forgetting who has the rights to natsume’s catalog these days? i’d kill for a compilation of their best works

You’re welcome! I’ve enjoyed Jared’s podcasts so far. Jeremy Parish has done some too. It’s marketing for LRG game releases, and says as much during some podcasts, but there is also some good tangential dialog during them.

This week’s Arcade Archives title is NMK’s 1993 shoot 'em up Thunder Dragon 2.

The Steam version of the Cotton Saturn Tributes have been stealth dropped about two hours ago alongside the input lag patch on consoles

All 3 games are 10% off until February 16. One guy says it’s better but that’s one guy.

Nice! Hopefully performance is much better now.

I feel like PC is a reasonably safe bet for this because it might even be possible for it to be modded to get more of the lag out of it. Crazier things have been patched by users over the years.

Will wait for some more people trying it, though.

I got all three Steam releases yesterday. They plane well enough to my taste after turning off v-sync but can’t really give hard data

I forgot to mention that The Humans launched on modern consoles last week. It features multiple versions of the first game in the series.

Release date: Out now

An ESRB rating has appeared for a Wonder Boy Collection! Not many details yet, except this:

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4
Release date: Unknown

But there are six… five if being pedantic… four only if being ultra-pedantic

So from a Japanese perspective there are four with Wonder Boy in the name

Wonder Boy/Super Wonder Boy
Wonder Boy: Monster World (Monster Land)
Wonder Boy III: Monster Lair
Wonder Boy V: Monster World III

Monster World II (Dragon’s Trap) is not named Wonder Boy in Japan, but the numbers kept rising as if it was, hence Wonder Boy V…

And of course Monster World IV which is also not named Wonder Boy.

Can’t see the point of this when we already have the amazing Wonderboy collection on PS2. We’ll, at least we had in Japan.

Well, a port of that set would be fantastic, but seems this isn’t it.

Using a PS2 today isn’t that great etc.

Yeah, I also would’ve preferred this collection to contain every game in the series, but alas.

People online have theorized it will be focused on the Monster World games.

  • Monster World (aka Wonder Boy in Monster Land)
  • Monster World II (aka Wonder Boy III: The Dragon’s Trap)
  • Monster World III (aka Wonder Boy in Monster World)
  • Monster World IV

I hope the collection will at least contain multiple versions of the games that were released on more than one platform.

Ratalaika Games will be releasing PC Engine Super CD-ROM² game Moto Roader MC on modern consoles soon!

Platforms: Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Microsoft Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S
Release date: February 25th

These companies are just picking up any cheap license. I have the original of this. It’s not a great game or one that cost a fortune on the PC Engine.
Save you money and play a rom in this case.

I dunno, the previous Ratalaika releases (Gley Lancer and Gynoug) were pretty solid, with good emulation and lots of options, so at least they aren’t just dumping a ROM and calling it a day.

That said, I’ve never played Moto Roader MC and finding reviews of it proves to be rather tricky, so I’ll just have to take your word for it that the game isn’t up to scratch.

I have to admit that I have a soft spot for games like Super Sprint and Badlands though, so I might just take the plunge.

Feels like they got a job lot of licenses and are just getting them out there. Which is absolutely fine, I wish there was a little less curation with this stuff and having access to full libraries was more the norm than the same stuff over and over as Nintendo seem to want to do in perpetuity.

Namco’s shoot 'em up Dragon Spirit will join the Arcade Archives range soon.

Release date: March 3rd

Yeah, I saw this and wondered what the point was, especially since the second game is better. Should have released all three in one compilation.

Moto Roader MC also saw a reissue on Wii U Virtual Console, though probably only in Japan.
