480i Screenshot thread of two fields become one

Niceeee I need to try this, so extra visible area above and below?! I assume there might be some graphical errors in places? This game looks awesome on both a consumer set and PC CRT. Is there any Wii games you prefer in 480p?

From what I can tell it just chops off the black bars on the top and bottom. Only a slight graphical glitch on the title screen where part of the screen is still black, but gameplay is very smooth. Unfortunately I couldn’t get codes for New Super Mario Bros. Wii to work, that’s another I’ve always wanted to play in 4:3

I’ve only ever tried 480p on LCDs and the signature blur of the Wii at that resolution is too much there. I’ve never actually tried it on a PC CRT, I’m actually curious now, but in general I seem to prefer 480i in most cases. The way the scanlines blend the picture + the slight softness of the deflicker filters just looks really nice to me. 480p on a PC CRT is very sharp, almost like playing on an upscaler, you can see all the aliasing

That’s cool, I can probably deal with the odd glitch. The levels are gorgeous in DKR so seeing more if it might mean the 4:3 code could become my fav way to play it, can’t wait to try it. Have you tried Tropical Freeze at 480i I don’t think I’ve tried the WiiU on a SD CRT, could be interesting lol

Yeah I found that with Super Mario Galaxy and a PC CRT at 480p, I didn’t like the aliasing. I also tried SMG via Dolphin at 480p on the same PC CRT and because you can add AA it looked amazing, not even using extra res but just the fact that you can get really nice IQ was transformative.

The levels look so great. Everything runs so smoothly, I’m having a blast going through it. I don’t know if it’s because I’m playing on a CRT or because I just finished the original trilogy, but this run has been much easier for me. I’m already at like 70% within a couple of days

I need to try Dolphin on my VGA monitor, I’ve never thought of that. Pretty easy to setup too, it’s not like the nightmare that is Retroarch. I’m going to try a few games. I know SMG at 480i is just stunning so now I’m curious about 480p with AA

You can use the mods to remove it? I’m using Wii via a basic but solid 480p HDMI adapter with the blur off via GX Loader, just a menu item to remove it.

Yeah by the time I found that out I’d already moved my Wii to my CRT setup. I’ve yet to try it though. The issue is, it seems like the Wii U retains this blur in Wii mode. I could be wrong, but playing DKCR on it recently, it didn’t look very good even with its upscaling

I think the software fixes only work on the first revision Wii (has the BU9055 encoder), the only other way to get past it is with a HDMI mod that bypasses the encoder.

Please share the code
