The transparent Super NT is sold out according to Analogue’s twitter. I’m really excited for this! I hope it meets the high expectations I have. Also, glad it seems to be doing well (considering one color sold out) so hopefully other FPGA’s will continue to be developed.
That’s interesting that the transparent one is the first to sell out. This is a pretty exciting retro release and I think the price point is perfect for the device. They may have found a really unique niche here.
I mean, when you factor in the Factor 5 games included, it’s actually a bit of a bargain…
It probably had the smallest run. I bet black is the most common. Also people remember clear things in the 90s. If it was smoke black I would have bought that one. Clear Smoke FTW
I don’t remember what color I ordered. I know I was trying to decide between black, clear, and SFC. It’ll be a surprise in February!
I went for clear. It should look great with the black PCB.
Still waiting for some real life photos of it rather than renders though…
As noted before, I went with the SFC. The one thing that’s super unique for me with this release beyond all that it is already, is that I have never had the means to play SFC games. I plan to investigate imports, especially those that are somewhat cheaper than their domestic releases but require little to no JPN language knowledge to play.
That’s very exciting for me!
I also went for the SFC color. I’m undecided on the controller as I have a couple SNES ones already. I’ll wait for reviews I guess.
What? You don’t have a SNES? Open console, cut tabs, close console, done.
Just never did that. Also never felt the need til more recently as cart prices started skyrocketing.
Black seems to be the one they’re pushing the most in their marketing. I went with black myself, as it will match my Nt mini, and will likely match any Mega Nt or Turbo Nt they do in the future…hopefully.
I also think the black 8bitdo controllers look great…
I’m certain that the next NT will be the Neo NT. I could see the turbo as well. For some reason the mega-gen-nt won’t be a thing. Would be interesting if they did a GB/GBA NT
I don’t see a turbo NT in the future. I don’t have an exact source but it has been mentioned that Kevtris stays away from the PCE/TG16 due to the toxicity of the fan base.
There won’t be a Mega NT for a while. Kevtris doesn’t have a Genesis/Megadrive core.
Neo Geo has a toxic fan base too. Neo Geo makes sense as this is what started the company. Turbo people didn’t want the analogue nt devaluing their collection as there was not many ways to play clone turbos or run ROMs for the system as there is for nes, SNES and Genesis.
I can understand that line of thinking but I don’t agree with it.
I’m not really fussed about a mega drive core. I have a Mega Drive console that has absolutely fantastic sound, and I’ve built an amp board to get it perfect. With it being analog, I just don’t see a core, as accurate as is, matching the sound of my particular console. Same as having a korg synth compared to a VST.
I’ve just ordered an SD2SNES, so even if the Super NT received a rom loading firmware, it’d be slower to load and less capable than the SD2SNES anyway. And to be totally honest, the vast majority of the games I want to play I have on legit carts anyway.
Anyhow. Been playing on the NT Mini tonight. Trying to get the panning on the audio sounding perfect without detracting from the original sound. I think I’ve got it!
Everyone’s tagging “NT” at the end of everything, but my understanding is NT is for NinTendo. Would the Turbografx one be like the Turbo TG or something?
Yeah, I don’t bother with the jail break for NES stuff on my NT mini. I only use the internal stuff for the other cores. I have all the games I care to play save Shadow of the Ninja which is my last game I need to replace to finish my NES collection. Still, I use my everdrive for convenience.
I completely plan on using my Super NT with the SD2SNES even if they add loading off the SD Card.
Yeah same. I have the SMB, Zelda Mega Man, Castlevania + CV3 JP series and Kirby on cart. I don’t really need anything else! But the extra cores on my NT Mini…they make it absolutely worth it. The ability to load romhacks is ideal too.
The other reason I continue to use my everdrive is save states are handy.
I need to see if Star Tropics works from the SD card on the Mini. It works on ED N8 if you disable save states. I have both games but again, I don’t like to bother swapping carts out.
Do we know if the Super NT will play NES games? I’m think of getting rid of my RGB NES and SNES and just use this on my OLED and buy the HDMI to Analogue dongle later for my PVM’s.
