Great review of the GB camera.
Totally whimsical device.
I haven’t been able to watch the review yet. But I’ve always thought the Game Boy Camera was well ahead of its time, both from the rotatable lens (allowing for selfies before the term was coined) and especially in the cartridge’s applications of its photography - pointing to a future where you can take photos to be shared and played around with in software.

I never owned one and only used a friend’s once way back in elementary school so I have little frame of reference. I do remember all the ads for it though.

I installed the IPS v2 mod yesterday and I really like it. It’s nice and bright without being a strain on your eyes like the bivert mod.

Yeah you can cycle through 8 different color palettes. It remembers the last color palette so when you turn it back on you don’t have to choose it again.

I’m always so tempted by these IPS screens but I would miss the visible LCD grid look I think
This is exactly what i was thinking but at the same time, i have a dead screen DMG that i think would really go good with this.

Man that looks SO GOOD. Definitely want this. Love the black bezel and buttons to go with, as well.
It is about the only downside to them. A big problem for me was how most of them didn’t really “fit” into the case/looked offset but seems to be a solved problem now.
I know I still probably would like an OG model GBA with the ags101 screen for that authentic look, but settled for one of the new ips screens for how simple and cheap it was until I can get one.
Same, that’s the only downside I see that and the way these ips screens affect the hue/saturation of colours for GBA games (GBC too?). Hoping someone releases one with a grid some day.
I think analogue pocket is supposed to feature a grid overlay/filter if only it wasn’t so expensive to import!
