Retro-Bit / Sega Making new MD/GEN, Saturn & Dreamcast accessories.

I want a Sega style controller for MiSTer. I guess it’s amazon, I could get the other one if this doesn’t work out. (I kept the 2.4 GHz pre-order)

Found this on a recent spelunking of SEGA stuff.

I’ve never seen the pale/pastel colours before.

I want to wait for the inevitable white m30s that are that color scheme

Reminds me of this amazing pic I came across on reset:

I mean you can never have enough of the best pad so

Haha!

My one came in a cardboard box.

I remember seeing all those when Play-Asia were selling them years ago! Always wanted the Puyo Fever Mac version (National Console Support did pre-orders…only to cancel them a few days after the game was supposed to come out IIRC). There was also a USB Virtua Stick among them too. Never see it get brought up as much as the pads though…

Just ordered a Saturn USB pad, Slate Gray (Always wanted this color option)! I will give my impressions once I receive it.

How does the M30 compare to the 3-button or 6-button pad in size? Pics make it look closer to 3-button in size, which I’m all about.

Where from?

I haven’t owned a 3 button for years. I honestly don’t remember the difference.

Ebay. Castlemania Games has them too. Amazon seems to be out of stock.

Amazon cancelled my preorders. I was not pleased

The seller I used has them with free 3-day shipping and shipped it out the same day. Here is the link.

Once I have this and put it through its paces, I’ll decide whether I need to get a M30 2.4GHz. <4ms lag Wireless is a pretty neat feature for the same price as this.

It’s closer to the western 6-button pad.

On a different note, the JPN 6-Button pad has a firmer d-pad activation than even the m30. My other pads are way too worn to make a fair comparison but the m30 feels better than those. Holding the other pads and it’s apparent the finish of the m30 is slightly textured compared to the og Sega pads, not a bad thing just an observation.

Awesome comparison. This thing is looking better and better, I love the look of the texturing on the plastic.

Interesting coincidence this weekend, my Retro-Bit Saturn controller (USB) arrived yesterday and my friend brought over his M30 BT controller for me to try. I have used both in a marathon session and I can say that both are way better than any other 3rd party controllers I’ve tried.

To cut right to the chase, the d-pads on both are sublime. The feel is almost 1:1 with real Saturn pads, resistance and feel are spot on, with the slight edge going to the 8Bitdo because the overall construction seems more solid. The Retro-bit feels just like a new Saturn pad, while the M30 with it’s battery is a little more hefty and premium feeling.

However, while playing over BT lag is sometimes very apparent lag and dropped inputs were a problem for me, especially on Switch. Maybe 2% of the time there would be some issue with one or the other and it was frustrating at times. My friend had not updated his FW so that may not be an issue now.

Otherwise there is little to report. Both controllers are absolutely amazing. Buttons are solid and crisp, little to no rattling when shaken, and the wire on the Reteo-bit is chunky just like the old Saturn. It is honestly astounding SEGA fans all of a sudden have these great, affordable options.

I definitely recommend snatching these RB controllers up if you are looking for a wired solution, and the M30 (I just ordered a 2.4G version) is as good as you can ask a wireless solution to be right now. I just wish there was an easy way to get the 2.4G to work wirelessly over USB to eliminate lag. I will probably order a Raphnet adapter in the end, which actually costs more the the M30!

Great impressions! Always wanted the transparent Saturn controller so think I’ll be picking up one or two of those.

Yeah, I’d also love a 2.4g USB reciever for the M30, let us know how you get on with pairing it with the raphnet adapter.

Absolutely, it may be a minute until I pull that trigger, but it seems like the best option. Krizz’s controller seems overpriced given these options but if he sees this, adding a USB receiver to that package would make it well worth the cost.

Edit: Can anyone confirm if the Raphnet adapters work for Switch?

So theres no such thing as a 2.4Ghz USB dongle for PC then?

Honestly there are probably a ton. Since the controller is so new I’m not sure if anyone has really tested anything. If there is one that works without any lag or incompatibility with the M30 controller I’d love to hear about it!
