The Ripping Thread - How to build your own legit retro ROM library.

Interesting it has no Sega logo while clearly just being a Genesis 3 with Sega pads.

They were originally the developers of the Sega Genesis Mini, but because of AtGames bad track record on their other Sega licensed stuff Sega used M2 instead. The design is based of AtGames old Sega Flashback consoles.

Are these all Genesis games?

Good question.

Short Answer: No.

Long Answer: MD, SNES, ColecoVision, NES, modified NES (Tetris) and Arcade (but it didn’t seem fast enough for those.

Anyone know if its possible to extract the Roms from the Final Fantasy Anthology Discs? I dumped them onto my computer and I tried looking for the files in HxD but couldn’t find anything

My understanding is that they are ports and not emulated.

farmerbb on GitHub have solved this:

and for Contra as well:

The ROM Extraction Documentation Project farmerbb have on GitHub seems to be worth looking into: https://github.com/farmerbb/RED-Project

Hi all, new here. This thread is exactly what I was looking for!

I’ve recently taken an increased interest in retro gaming, particularly the arcade scene of the late 80’s early 90’s. I want to play as much as I can on modern machines without downloading roms. So far this has been through various compilations/re-rereleases/ports and the mini consoles. So far I’ve managed to copy the roms from the Sega Genesis Collection on Steam to my Megadrive Mini, which is great and really boosts the collection.

I guess what I’m interested in is current releases (Steam/GoG etc) with roms I can either extract and copy to mini consoles OR use in an emulator of choice on my PC.

I’m really keen on playing Neo-geo games and have mostly been satisfied with the Hamster Arcade Archives releases on PS4 (I only have a handful so far) but they’re pretty pricey if you want a large collection at £5 each. I know there are a few Dotemu ports on PC with extractable roms but not many. I really would like a collection all in one place so this is pretty limited. One thought was buying a cheap neogeo mini and extracting the roms. I can’t seem to find out if this is possible though. There are about 15 roms on the mini that I don’t have PS4 ports for so I’m not sure it’s worth the hassle. I wish I could just buy roms from publishers.

The Namco Museum Arcives vol. 1 and 2 contains a bunch of old NES ROMs. Even a brand new Pac-Man Championship Edition demake. Any way to dump them?

A quick look shows that the Arcade1Up Reddit has details of how to access the contents of your own PCB.

Looks like you are right: https://www.reddit.com/r/Arcade1Up/comments/a02870/hack_original_board_not_just_replace_w_pietc/

Just an FYI, you do not need to patch Sonic Adventure DX on Steam to get the Game Gear games. I just installed it today and they were already there.

This game NEEDS to get on a dedicated repro cart. Would love to have a translucent red or blue Famicom cart for this. I don’t own any flash carts but I NEED to play this remake on real hardware…

Seems like the new Super Mario Bros. Game & Watch includes cheat for infinite lifes, as well as a level-selector. Hopefully someone find a way to dump the (presumably) updated ROMs.
