Anyone here played Raiden Fighters Aces on the 360? I picked up a copy locally buy haven’t fired it up yet.
Yes. I bought it new when it shipped and it is tremendous. Raiden Fighters Jet is among my all time favorite shooters. It’s just so satisfying to play. There aren’t a ton of 360 games I want to play again, but that one I could play any given day. So damn good.
Thanks for the tip, I’ll have to fire it up
Tonight’s Sunday Night Shmup is the Japanese cell phone port of DDP DOJ on Switch and it’s actually pretty cool for what it is:
I didnt know this was a thing. Neat.
Tonight’s game was Espgaluda. Still working on the clear. Control panel has some issues in this cab, really need to get around to replacing the sticks. Survival wise I can get to the last boss, but somehow I’m not scoring as great as I did when playing on the Aero.
Nice, is that the soundtrack CD on the cab?
Yeah I usually listen to the music of the game I’m playing in-between credits.
Got my copy of Raiden IV x Mikado Remix, ordered Saturday night and arrived yesterday, talk about fast shipping. Really enjoying it and definitely like it more than V.
Have you ever wanted to be a frog with extremely stinky feet? Have you dreamed of piloting a submarine through an underwater science facility, destroying bits of trash in order to clean up a lagoon?
I thought so.
I was fiddling around with a Brazilian ROM set of Master System games and happened upon this little shooter titled “Sapo Xulé S.O.S. Lagoa Poluída”. You play as Sapo Xulé, a popular frog Toy in Brazil in the 90’s that’s cleaning up a Polluted Lagoon.
It’s a reskin of Astro Warrior for the SMS, and it’s much more of a cute 'em up. The graphics and music are much more bright and fun, and it really does the original game proud. I think it’s even better than the original!
Destroying bits of trash like q-tips, half-eaten apples, bottles, boots etc is hilarious.
Anyway, I made a little video of this super short playthrough. It’s only 3 levels, then the game loops indefinitely.
Translated back of box-text:
Three greedy scientists have teamed up on an ambitious project: to build a secret complex of underwater waste-processing plants that could generate cheap energy, but at great harm to nature. They decided to install the plants on the marsh and, aboard three ultra-modern submarines, put the project in motion.
In a short time, the bottom of the lake was already full of garbage: there were tires, bottles, cans, drums, boots and a multitude of other debris used as raw material by the mills. The lives of animals in the region were already under threat!
The beings from the swamp, desperate, went to consult the old and wise Cágado Adão who, without delay, found a way to eliminate the garbage from the bottom of the lake, destroy the plants and even expel the invaders: he built a powerful underwater ship equipped with a machine gun. laser and two weapons with great firepower, which worked synchronized with the movement of the ship.
Sapo Xulé was chosen to carry out the mission and, piloting the special submarine, departed towards the bottom of the lake where the plants were installed.
On radar, the scientists detected the danger and immediately took refuge in their powerful submarines. Using the submerged garbage, the bandits built terrible weapons to face the Frog Xulé. There were torpedo bottles, tire bombs, screw-ships, rotating banana skins and many other lethal contraptions controlled from a distance and which were supposed to protect the plants, the submarines and even destroy the Frog Xulé.
In an underwater war with such balanced forces, victory can only belong to the most intelligent and skillful of warriors.
@St1ka just saw your video on this, very nice work! Thanks for the great content!
oh wow! That’s an older video! Glad you liked it!
Been playing Shock Troopers all week, slowly getting addicted to it once again. Began playing for survival and got as far as the stage 5 boss, but I’ve been trying to play for score the past couple of days and the risk-reward mechanic of up close combat score bonus is just too satisfying. Best action game in the Neo, bar none. I’m currently at nearly 8 million by stage 4.
Today is June 11, 2021 and it’s now a full year since I posted this story from June 11, 2020 regarding Hamster’s announcement that they were releasing Raiden and other Seibu games on ACA:
One year later, Raiden still hasn’t been released on ACA. I remember posting something like ‘Wow, this is such great news!! And if they also release Raiden II then I can finally retire my copy of the Raiden Project!!”
Yeah.
It’s almost like one of the interns over there had to go and pat a manager on the back and say “Uh sir, just so you know, there was that third Seibu game in addition to Wiz and Zero Fighter that we announced last summer which we still haven’t released…” and then someone scrambled to give an update. At least there’s finally an ETA.
Didn’t get any shooting done yesterday, but more than made up for it tonight. Finally got around to rotating the Astro, made some progress in Espgaluda, definite 1CC sooner or later.
Speaking of Espgaluda, Espgaluda II is coming to Switch. Mushi is already on all eShops, and DoDonpachi Resurrection is coming too.
Played some Mushihimesama, very good port of the Xbox 360 game. Perhaps that was to be expected - developer Live Wire has ex-staff from Cave and Neverland (Lufia, Rune Factory) who clearly know what they are doing.
Only blight against it - if you can call it one - is leaderboards coming via a patch. But that’s a good thing, gives me time to practice again haha.
