I wonder if there’s any USB Mouse support for Tokimeki Memorial, tried an old USB Microsoft Intellimouse but it didn’t work.
Are the PC Engine versions of the Namcot games the ‘definitive’ versions for their time? Was looking at Namcot Collection and it too has Dragon Spirit but on Famicom.
sorry it’s been a while since you posted this but in the tokimeki game did you change the options for mouse support and then see if the mouse worked?
Most of my stuff is in boxes so I cannot test it out how it’s done… But I vaguely remember having to go into the game options to change mouse support manually in order to get the game to work with the original pce mouse…
Also despite releasing quite a lot of pc engine games I always felt namco rarely pushed the pc engine and a lot of their pc engine ports were somewhat lacklustre although great as they are they had a lot missing or altered to fit into the tiny hucard rom space… Only Genpei toumaden I would say is perhaps their most impressive pc engine game.
I do wish for a rolling thunder port for the pc engine
No luck unfortunately, just fiddled with the options screen to change mouse settings like left/right click and cursor speed, but my mouse wouldn’t work anywhere it should be supported.
But the optics don’t turn on when I plug it into the PC Engine Mini (this is a Microsoft Intellimouse from the early 2000s) so it’s a hardware issue as much as a software one. I wonder if any HORI mice work like how their third party controllers work on it?
may have to wait for a hack to see if they add additional controller support
Konami’s mini website has a couple of interviews if anyone is interested on a few game making veterans who were there in the golden days of the pc engine
So I ended up getting another one of these - the Core Grafx model.
I really wanted a turbo controller to go with my Turbo-less PCE Mini but they go for silly money nowadays - who’d have thought the peripherals would be in short supply?
Anyhow, Amazon in this country had the Core Grafx Mini going for 30% off the listing price so I just had to bite, since it comes with a Turbo controller!
Still love what Konami, M2 and Hori accomplished with this box, it’s a joy to return to. Finished Ninja Spirit today, will have more words to follow in the appropriate thread…
It’s a great device. I’m really glad I pre-ordered over a year before it shipped! I keep thinking I should build a TG-16/PC Engine library but maaaaan… it’s expensive. I will probably stick with the Mini and be happy I can at least play all that’s there.
I’ll take the savings an pour it into Saturn imports or something.
