Well, there are manageable ones, but quite a bit can be quite challenging and even brutal with checkpoints and continues(heck I think some don’t have continues unless you use cheats).
Good thing I got mine for 100 bucks before this happened!
I had a feeling this one might be the most limited of them all. I doubt they’ll have another production run
Hmm, that would be crazy but I see what you mean!
I mean, the Turbografx specifically is a footnote to gaming history in the US. Does it even have any footprint in Europe?
Japan… yeah, I think it’s remembered more fondly, but as a device for the masses, it’s a curiousity at best everywhere else. Even the Sega Genesis Mini seemed to hit a wall much faster than the NES and SNES ones did.
To finish the thought, I doubt they made enough to start with and underestimated the demand for it, but at the same time you can understand why given its level of success outside Japan.
I wonder how rare the CoreGrafx one is going to be.
How much was it? No listings as of right now
Over 200 dollars, near 300 with some of them.
Blimey. Scalpers gonna scalp.
Don’t know why anyone would pay that while the CoreGrafx Mini is still readily available.
The TurboGrafx Mini is still available on Amazon Japan, with the same packaging as the American model (ESRB rating etc), so this might be your last chance to get one if they aren’t doing another production run.
I am super impressed with the R-Type port. Wow. If I had played that at launch way back when I probably would have gotten a TG-16. That’s really impressive.
Yeah I got to play R-Type, it would be my 1st one as well.
How easy are they to order from. Do j need to setup another account or can I use my us account.
You do need to set up a separate Amazon Japan account, but its really easy to do, and you can pick the website to be displayed in mostly English. They ship things DHL and it comes in a couple of days.
I just checked - the white one is £105 delivered from Japan to UK with import fees included.
Re:J.J. & JEFF… wtf did I just play?!
You played the strangest Wonder Boy/Adventure Island clone ever made. Honestly though, I kinda enjoy it. It’s a solid if not flawed platformer.
I need to give it another go, I profess to playing a couple of levels and moving on to Bonk’s Revenge at the time. But from what I did play, It felt like a reskinned New Adventure Island, which I played first, definitely a lot of reused code at least. But the theme certainly makes it stand out more.
I’m not sure if anyone knew this, but the Nintendo Switch Hori RAP stick works perfectly with the Turbografx mini. Tried it on a whim last night and it recognized it right away.
