Interesting. I rented this on Genesis back in the day. I wonder how the different versions compare. This almost looks like a de-make compared to what I remember.

The NES one is done by Rare, not sure about the others, but they’re all relatively similar playing with each platform having its own bells and whistles of one sort or another. Not a great game, but it’s existence as a re-issue is very interesting to say the least, if only from a licensing perspective.

Today is shaping up to be quite a busy day for retro news. A new trailer for Sonic Origins (a collection that features Sonic 1, CD, 2, 3&K) has just been revealed, along with its release date.

That Sonic Origins project looks… actually good? Like really really good. They’re actually putting a ton of effort into it which I didn’t expect to see.

Lol yeah, it’s quite a deep cut, but I must say I really enjoy seeing companies unearth more obscure titles lately instead of endlessly re-releasing only the most popular games.

This week’s Arcade Archives release is a pretty obscure one (well, to me at least, since I’ve never heard of this game): it’s Namco’s Yokai Dochuki (also known as Shadow Land).

Granzella has announced remakes of the PSP games R-Type Tactics I & II. The first one was released as R-Type Command in the USA (no title change for the EU version, though), but its sequel never left Japan.
