I got on the list too! Looks cool and weird.

@matt A big part of me wanting to order is being excited for your game!

Managed to get my preorder in for late 2021 as well - but only just. There was an issue with shipping which sorted itself out a couple of minutes before the initial shipment ran dry!

Looking forward to this more than Steam Deck as well. It’s been a long time coming since Nintendo moved on from 3DS and took an era of handheld gaming with it.

I decided not to pull the trigger on this, as much as I love all Teenage Engineering stuff, it just feels
 a bit too twee
I’m much more interested in the Steam Deck.

Totally fair - you should choose the one you’ll get the most out of.

I like new ways to play, and new types of games, so this is totally my bag. My 1st favourite console is the Wii, 2nd fave is the DS — this tells you all you need to know about me.

Damn this is some smooth animation. Wasn’t expecting that.

Well deserved - it was fascinating seeing the homebrew made for the unit. Didn’t realise it was so capable having only previously seen corporate software running on it

Man I wish this thing was just like 30% cheaper. It’s just outside that guilt free window for me.

Once component prices come back down I think it will reduce in price. Though that’s probably a year or two away.

I sold my boxed copy of Pokémon Ruby for $450 AUD (insane) the other day, so I used some of that money to put a preorder down for one of these and a cover.
I hear the browser development tool “Pulp” is going into public beta in January so I am keen to play with that and see how it compares to developing for pico-8.

Wow!!!

Edit: Sorry, still figuring out some of the forum quirks! lol

I’ve been looking forward to this since it was announced, and I’m luckily in the first batch that releases “early 2022”. Hopefully it’s on the earlier side! Early 2022 should have lots of handheld goodness in it, with both my Pocket and Playdate arriving near each other. Hopefully.

Good news! Hopefully this means we may get the Playdate on the earlier side of Q1, as long as you’re in the first batch.
