Rumour of a console from retro-bit floating around: http://www.seganerds.com/2018/01/10/rumour-sega-retro-bit-working-on-retro-console/
I think I saw something teased by Sega for the 16th of January, might be related?

The stuff Retro-bit makes tends to beâŚcheap, and not well done. So Iâm going to hold my excitement about this till someone gets them in hand. Honestly I wish this was 8Bitdo making them since then youâd know the quality would be there.
Sounds like something not worth getting excited over. Even if they do make consoles, I think we all know how that will play out for us - weâll get excited, find out itâs emulated with a ton of input lag and poor features including a lack of SCART/RGB output, then pat each other on the back for sticking to native hardware.
Yeah I agree, not got my hopes up at all, even for the pads Iâll be waiting before I throw down money but I do like an underdog!
Such a shame that SEGA doesnât treat their legacy like Nintendo does.
I have a hyperkin 6 button genesis controller and I think itâs pretty good too
I had one and thought it was pretty good. Then I went back to my Sega controller and I discovered it was off. Lots of angle presses that I didnât realize i was doing.
While I 100% agree with you, and I am managing my expectations as well, might this time be different if they are at least officially licensed? (Not that slapping on a license has helped other Sega hardware re-issues, but one can dreamâŚ)
I found some high quality photos.
This is their bluetooth saturn controller:
Looks to be a 3d printed prototype or a mold made from a retail controller but itâs definitely not original molds.
Their Genesis controller looks a bit better but I donât remember the X button being rotated 45 degrees (among other problems):
Their new saturn contollers on display? Yeah theyâre actually just used Saturn controllersâŚ
Oh and their VGA box?
Well itâs exacty the same as the old one except in black plastic with the DC logo tacked on, and I didnât exactly hear good things about thisâŚ
Not looking good so far! Seems like their licencing deal may just be to use Segaâs logos and trade dress, same as 3rd party controllers for PS4 that are licenced by Sony.
Itâs like people forgot the hundreds of hardware with official branding that came from previous partnerships, and their quality.
Barf
About this, while the plastic doesnât feel like the highest quality by any means, I had no complaints about that VGA box when I used it in the past. I thought it output great audio/video.
Not me! Which is why Iâve been skeptical from the start
Haha yeah even since the 90s Sega will licence anything to anyone who will pay them money. The legend of the âgreat Sega sales in Brazilâ is with trash hardware from Tectoy, licensed just because Sega would take the two bucks Tectoy threw them.
At least Sega âshowed upâ in Brazil. That country really gets an unfair shake at videogames. Their prices are absurd.
(and yea, I do realize the irony of stating that to someone who lives in Australia)
Brazilian prices are high because of the countryâs protectionist policies, basically if itâs made overseas add 100% to the price, plus the regular economies of scale and riskier distribution network stuff. Apparently Famiclones and later one gen out of date hardware+piracy has always dominated there.
Actually Australian prices are and since the 90s have been very good. Basically always nearly identical to US prices according to the exchange rate of the day (plus 10% sales tax which is always built into the price here), and we get way more discounts on games here too.
Any Australians that whine donât pay attention to the markets. Many whinged about the Switch price which was basically identical to the US including tax and exchange rate.
The only real issue is retro stuff, our exchange rate has fallen vs US/GBP/EU, and the postage from overseas to here is very high, especially after ebay poisoned itself with the global shipping program.
Agreed. Mine is almost as old as my Dreamcast, and Iâve never had any issues with it.
Wired and wireless versions of all controllers, choose original plug or usb, bluetooth or 2.4GHz with usb receiver and original port receiver.
Also,
As long as the controllers are good quality Iâll buy em. The widescreen display on the Nomad is a turn off. If you can force 4:3 I might consider it.
I really donât agree with the âtrash hardwareâ quote. The Master System, Mega Drive, Saturn and Dreamcast sold In here were as good as any US/JP system sold at the time. Actually the components were made in Japan and then assembled here in Brazil (same thing as the Neogeo).
Iâm not a fan of how they are not distinguishing these new controllers visually. They are reproductions that look like the original designs, even though they have Segaâs official license to do so.
Iâd prefer some sort of difference in branding so collectors can distinguish them, even if they are an improvement over the originals.
