This has been sitting in my local recycle shop for about a year. After the announcement of Renaissance and some indecisiveness about which platform to get that on, i decided to just buy the original for now!

Edit: cant believe the forum still doesn’t like my portrait photos lol

That’s rough @AgentUnknown , I didn’t know that this could happen to HuCards. Hopefully there’s a way to bring it back to life.

Excellent decision @androgyne !

Thanks. I’ve contacted the seller about it. Have already tried gently cleaning the contacts with no luck so far. First time I’ve ever had an issue like this with a Hucard.

Fuck year, Tomba!

So, thanks to the TG-16/PC Engine thread here I tried cleaning the contacts on the Hucard with a stick eraser and it boots up fine now, huzzah!

A few bits and bobs recently.

Got a nice professional Region Free N64 cartridge tray

To replace my old hand chopped one from many years ago

Nearly identical quality, given the part number looks like they got ahold of the original Jusco moulds (Here’s a Funtastic USA equivalent)

Transparent smoke is supposed to have a clear tray, but black looks better anyway IMO.

Got some Japanese N64 box protectors finally

I love how box protectors make worn boxes ‘pop’ more, though this Legend of Cornel is in great condition anyway.

And also got some replacement Hucard sleeves, as the old ones were getting worse with the stickiness etc.

New on the left obviously

Now most of my Hucard games will look and feel nicer

I got lucky with a SNES I bought on eBay, it was bundled with 5 games.
SFII turbo
Zelda LTTP
Mario All Stars
Mario All stars & world
Kirby’s Funpak

I bought it for the games with the intention of selling some of the games on as it was a good price and I thought I would keep the PSU & the two controllers for spares and possibly sell the console as well.
The console looked ok, just a bit dirty, I’ve just finished cleaning it up and it turns out it’s a 1Chip SNES
Happy Days!

Nice buy. Now get that modded for 60htz :+1:. Pal snes was particularly bad.

I already have a modded region free one & now I’m at a loss as to what to do with this one?
Keep as a spare
Sell it
Or have this modded too

I’d keep it as a spare unless a pal snes is worth a bit. Over here a SFC isn’t worth much. It’s the only reason why I still have mine.

Discovered how good Surgua-Ya is in terms of game quantity and ease of finding it. Over 100 PS2 games in my collection now.

I love shopping at Surugaya / A-too. Have bought many stuff over the years, from NeoGeo AES games and system to prized (pricy…) arcade PCBs. Prices for arcade stuff there have been unreasonable lately though. Once they allow acces to Japan I want to raid the Game museum one in Akiba lol.

I wish I had heard about surugaya sooner

Surugaya are consistently excellent, when I was last in Japan it’s through their stores where I found most of the games I was struggling to get hold of elsewhere, stuff like superlite 1500 Hanafuda, the rarer Taito Memories releases (2 Gekan I think I got), and so on.

A couple of Switch imports have arrived. Also not pictured: Metroid Dread and Monkey Ball 1&2 Remake. Between these games and an incredible digital-only port of Tetris Effect, Switch OLED has had quite a good launch!

Managed to get a Switch OLED at Target this morning:
