Let us know how playable the Cotton collection is. The reviews are… not good.

Went to GameStop about ten minutes ago to pick up my copy of Dread, I had the regular edition preordered. The guy says “We have one extra Special Edition available do you want to upgrade to that instead?” Why, yes I would:

I actually already had an order for a Dread SE from AntOnline but status is still “processing in warehouse” so think I’ll try to cancel that one now because who knows if it will be fulfilled?

I got Cotton 2 digitally when it came out. It’s…not ideal.

There’s an extra five or six frames of lag on top of what you’d get out of the Saturn original on a CRT. If you don’t mind playing through the two Cotton games casually it’s fine, I adjusted to the lag and made it pretty far, but the lag let me down when I needed precise movements during boss fights/sub boss encounters, and during the tea time sections. Haven’t tried Guardian Force yet!

I added a $10 goodwill receiver to the upstairs setup. I bought this with the intention of using it as a test bed for recapping practice, but after opening it and looking around it’s in great shape! So I’ll just plan on using it for now and maybe replacing some in a few months.

I will likely build a small table/stand for the PVM so I can put the receiver underneath and the speakers down on the sides. It looks like some sort of weird Sony easter bunny setup now, lol.

I’ve been on the lookout for an Odyssey 2 for a while, but never wanted to spend the $200+ CAD to find a decent package with some games.

Today I got to talking with the owner of a local game shop and he had an Odyssey 2 package with box, and 11 games all CIB.

He was ready to get it out of his store because it’s a tiny little shop and the player 1 controller wouldn’t move left. I ended up striking a deal with him for $40 CAD!

Hopefully I can get the controller working, and make this a steal of a deal.

I also picked up a nice zipper controller for five bucks.

I already posted my Switch OLED pick up earlier but now that the dust has settled a bit I also thought I’d also share this somewhat annoying little misadventure leading up to it:

My OLED launch story from last week:

Went to Walmart really early Friday morning and came up empty. Not sure how reliable this is, but one of the employees there said he was hearing that a lot of Walmart stores are going to be having approximately two week delays in getting OLED units (I called the same Walmart today out of curiosity and a different said they still haven’t gotten any in

So after that headed to Target around 7am, there was a line of nine people. After getting inside two guys in electronics told us all, “Sorry, no Switch OLEDs in store today. They were for online orders only.” Everyone leaves, while I’m thinking “Um, that doesn’t sound right…” Anyways, I stuck around the store for about 15 more minutes browsing the book and physical game sections nearby and eventually think to myself, “Well, guess I’ll just get some breakfast and go home” when just then I turn around the corner back into electronics and the same two enployees are unloading two stacks of Switch OLED units onto the counter, prepping to stock them, had to be at least 10-12 of them. They stare at me awkwardly, I right away say “I’ll take a white unit, please.” While ringing it up, I say to them “So that’s kind of crazy, did these just come in or…” and one of them says “Uh, well no, we’ve just been waiting to get confirmation on these all morning and they finally gave us the go ahead, we didn’t want people to get mad.” (?) Maybe someone here who is familiar with procedures at Target can clarify but what they they said beforehand sure seemed like a rather blatant lie just go get rid people but in any case I’m glad I stayed a bit longer and was able to get my OLED. Feel kind of bad for all the other people who left because of what seemed like some really misleading information from those two employees.

I’m not expert on target stores, but just knowing human behavior, I would hypothesize that the guy blatantly lied to you.

Yeah, I know it sounds obvious that they lied but I try give people the benefit of the doubt since I know retail employees go through hell but those guys? Total, lying weasels.

S-Snowboard kids on the Playstation?!

That definitely sounds like they got caught in a lie. I wonder if they were going to buy and scalp them themselves?

Yep, a friend of mine speculated that they were either trying to do that or maybe trying to hold them for some friends. Either way they were definitely lying and I was actually tempted to report them.

Yep, Japan only, supposed to be a good version of Snowboard Kids 1

I need to check it out, really enjoyed it on the N64. Japan has all the cool shit

Last night I got a bunch of stuff in a big package, and I’m super happy to finally have a Commodore PET. The prices of these things are high enough now that I didn’t think I would ever have the chance to own one.

Two Commodore PETs - $400 CAD

Apple II Color Monitor, Tandy Color Monitor - $60 CAD

Three old computers, one large AT case. The systems are a P4, Athlon X2, and an Athlon XP - $30

19" Arcade Monitor, unknown brand, missing one color - $40 CAD

I had a Pet growing up. I think I trashed it like 15 years ago though ;(

That’s a shame, they aren’t a whole lot useful nowadays, and the 80 column machines like mine even less so, but I still love them.
